The Video Game Club at USF

I transformed a small student club into the largest organization on campus, growing from 200 to 1,500+ members.

Project Overview

The Organization: The Video Game Club at University of South Florida (VGCUSF) is a special interest student organization that hosts biweekly gaming and pop culture events, oversees a physical space on campus, connects students with opportunities, and manages esports teams.

My Role: I served the students of University of South Florida as the president for three years.

My Efforts: My accomplishments included recruiting 1000 active members, organizing 100+ events, generating a $10,000+ budget, and developing academic esports.

The Challenge

Student needs were unmet due to lack of gaming opportunities. Conflict existed between recreational and competitive gaming crowds.

My Approach

I utilized a student-first approach of surveys, community engagement, and increased advertising. Events engaged gamers of all interests through free play events and esports teams.

The Outcome

The organization became the largest student organization on campus. I balanced recreational and competitive gaming while creating an inclusive space for all students.
